3.6.5 General procedure. The procedure specified in 3.6.3 shall be
strictly followed in performing operations 3.6.6 through 3.6,19. The procedure
specified in 3.6.4 shall be strictly followed in performing 3.6.22. Allow 24
hours of drying time for cemented seams before applying the seal tape to the
individual seams (see 3.6.21).
3.6.6 Procedure for boot making.
Procedure for boot q aking shall be as
follows:
(a)
Apply cement to the cut dart of each boot.
(b)
Abut and press firmly together.
(c)
Apply cement to the joining seams of each boot.
(d)
Abut and press firmly together the matching guides of the boot,
joining seams from heel to top of boot.
3.6.7 Procedure for making neck pieces and insert neck gasket.
Procedure
for making neck pieces and insert neck gasket shall be as follows:
(a)
Apply cement to the neck seam of the outer neck piece.
Abut and press the neck joint firmly together.
(b)
(c)
Apply cement to the inner surface (open pore) of the inside neck
piece and matching surface of the neck gasket.
Mount neck gasket onto the neck piece, allowing a 3/4 ± 1/8 inch
(d)
overlap.
(e)
Stitch neck gasket onto the neck piece using a single straight
stitch conforming to type 301 of FED-STD-751. The stitch line
shall be 1/4 inch in from the inside edge of the neck gasket
using thread type Anefil, 100 percent nylon, bonded BT/138
black; 7 ± 1 stitch per inch.
(f)
Apply cement to the inner neck piece seam.
Abut and press the neck joint firmly together.
(g)
(h)
Apply cement to the inner neck piece (open pore side) and on the
matching surface of the outer neck piece and gasket.
(i)
Press neck piece onto neck piece gasket assembly and roll with
a heavy roller (see figure 2).
The bottom of the two neck pieces shall be fused with one

3.6.8 Procedure for joining front chest piece to back yoke.
Procedure
for joining front chest piece to back yoke shall be as follows:
(a) Apply cement to the front chest piece and back yoke joining
seams .
(b) Abut and press the front chest pieces and the back yoke joining
seams firmly together, according to guides.
3.6.9 Procedure for attaching gauntlet sleeves to sleeves for finished
appearance.
Procedure for attaching gauntlet sleeves to sleeves for finished
appearance shall be as follows: The gauntlet sleeves shall finish with the
skin surface on the outside.
