3.2.8 Slide fastener. The slide fastener to be used for the back zipper
closure shall be a water and gas proof zipper conforming to either the Dynat
style size II (sol) zipper with neoprene coated tape or the Talon style 17310 EB
size 84 type I 0.025 black or an equal item (see 6.4). The zipper shall be 33

inches long for all sizes. It shall be supplied with a wire stirrup pull. The
thong shall be constructed of either nylon or cotton webbing, black in color
and have a minimum length of 5 inches (see 6.5).
3.2.9 Seal tape. The material for the seal tape shall be a fusible nylon
knit, 1 inch in width consisting of knitted stretch cloth as specified in 3.2.2
and a polyamide resin system that, when heat sealed, achieves a minimum adhesion
strength as specified in 3.2.7.
3.2.10 Size numbers. The material for the sleeve size numbers shall con-
form to 3.2.1 and shall be l/8-inch thick having yellow nylon on face side and
black nylon on back side.
3.2.11 Butyl rubber. The material used for the neck gasket shall be a
butyl rubber compound having a thickness of 0.060 ± 0.005 inch and a durometer
harness number of 65 ± 5 when tested as specified in 4.6. Both surfaces of
the butyl rubber shall have fabric imprinted surfaces to provide good gripping
characteristics.
3.2.12 Label. Each suit shall have a combination, identification, size
and instruction label conforming to type I, class 14 of DDD-L-20. The inscrip-
tion shall be as follows:

3.2. 12.1 Label position. The label shall be positioned as specified in
3.6.16 and secured to the suit with a suitable adhesive.
3.2.13 Recovered materials. Unless otherwise specified herein, all
equipment, material, and articles incorporated in the products covered by this
specification shall be new and may be fabricated using materials produced
from recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable without jeopardizing
the intended use. The term "recovered materials" means materials which have
been collected or recovered from solid waste and reprocessed to become a source
of raw materials, as opposed to virgin raw materials. None of the above shall
be interpreted to mean that the use of used or rebuilt products is allowed .
